Podcast Playlist – Healing The Mother Wound – Thank You, Mama

Rev. Michelle is a metaphysical minister, family constellation facilitator, and a clinical hypnotist helping women to heal their “Mother Wound”. Michelle talks about her mother Karen who was an addict and lost her three children to foster homes, and shares the very profound lessons she learned from her: that we have to find compassion for the full woman our mother is, that we are inter-dependent with our ancestor, that we can never escape what we reject, and that our healing is tied to our mother’s healing.

Chelle’s personal story was so inspiring to me.
We spoke about -how this work doesn’t always end up in a “fixed” face to face relationship with our mothers
-the value of connection with our ancestors
-the unconscious patterns which can play out in our lineage
She was so insightful and intuitive. A couple of times she ended up answering my questions before I even asked them!

Sunday Night Sessions

The genesis of my healing work is Hypnosis.  So, as an Advanced Certified Clinical Hypnotist, I’m going back to my roots to offer group hypnosis sessions aimed at helping you with the way the pandemic is affecting your body, emotional regulation, and sleep habits.

ACCEPTANCE OF WHAT IS

Well, these are certainly interesting times.

Half the world is experiencing a downshift in new COVID-19 cases and deaths, the other half under stay at home orders of varying degrees.

Here in the US, we are seeing the pandemic take hold of communities, up-end our way of life, create distance between us and the ones we love, jobs shifting to online, or non-existent.

Parents are navigating homeschooling children and demanding deadlines while they learn to work from home. Healthcare workers are overworked by a system wholly inadequate to handle the impact of this pandemic.

People are dying.  Life is not normal.  It may never get back to normal, whatever that is or will be.

I don’t mean to sound so bleak, but acceptance is key to moving forward.

I have spent the last few weeks moving between a variety of emotions.  What I have noticed most is the way my body is responding.

HOW IS YOUR BODY RESPONDING?

I have felt hypervigilant, on guard, unable to relax. My sleep habits have been irregular. One night I’m ready for bed at 7 pm, then next I’m wide awake at 3 am. I constantly feel a pressure in my chest, a weight in my shoulders, a slight ache in my head. I feel dysregulated, my brain is foggy.

I know I am not alone.

It’s understandable that many of us are experiencing a wide range of emotional imbalance, resulting in an overworked nervous system.

Maybe you’re super calm because your norm is chaos and you have perfected being calm in the storm.  This too is an imbalance in your nervous system masking as coping.

Perhaps you have been overeating, drinking to excess, insert vice here…  It’s understandable. It’s crazy right now and you are trying to cope. No judgment.

There is a ton of collective grief, anxiety, anger, frustration, uncertainty, fear and a whole boatload of other emotions.

All of them valid.

HOW WAS I COPING?

I spent some time feeling a bit guilty because I wasn’t jumping on the front lines offering services to help clients.  No matter how much I wanted to, I just couldn’t even conceptualize how to show up. I was shut down. If we are talking about the way we respond to trauma as either fight, flight, freeze or fawn. I was rotating between flight and freeze.

I didn’t want to talk to anyone, do healing work with anyone, or talk about healing work… Most of the time, I just wanted to lay in bed and binge-watch Law & Order, SVU.  And believe me, I did lots of that.

I’m glad I did that. I’m glad I honored what I needed at the moment.

I had to get centered before I could even step into the arena to help others.  But I’m solid now. I’m well and I want you to be well also.

THE OFFER

The genesis of my healing work is Hypnosis.  So, as an Advanced Certified Clinical Hypnotist, I’m going back to my roots to offer group hypnosis sessions aimed at helping you with the way the pandemic is affecting your body, emotional regulation, and sleep habits.

Each Sunday night for the next four weeks, you can attend an online group hypnosis session.

I’m calling these sessions Sunday Night Sessions.  Sessions will be held from 8 to 9 pm Central time.

I am holding the sessions at a time I anticipate you to be relaxing for the evening, maybe even preparing for bed.  If you are inclined you can even listen to the session as you fall asleep for the night. The suggestion at the end of the session will allow you to fully wake up when your body is ready to do so. That could be when the session is over, or later in the night or even the morning. The point is to allow your body to relax and rest.

This will help in regulating your nervous and endocrine system.

My goal is to offer you a reprieve from the collective stress you are feeling and give you an opportunity to have a deeply relaxing experience to help in the following ways…

April 19th – Balance your nervous system

April 26th – Create an anchor for calmness when you are feeling overwhelmed

May 3rd –   Help you experience regular, deep, satisfying sleep

May 10th – Help you maintain emotional balance.

The mother wound is a new term for me, but the minute I heard it, it made so much sense. I knew immediately that whatever it was, I had it! Well, let’s face it, we all have it..“

I was intrigued as to how it would show up in our day-to-day lives. I’ve done a lot of mother wound work on myself, so I had inklings on how my it has been affecting me, but I’m sure I still have blind spots. And I sure as hell will not have anything of value to add when it comes to other people’s mother wounds. So when I came across this guest I knew I needed to get her on the show.

Today’s guest is Rev Chelle. Rev is a Metaphysical Minister, Family Constellation Facilitator & Clinical Hypnotist. In her work she guides daughters as they connect the dots from their mother wound to issues in their relationships, career, finances, fertility, health and parenting.

The Mother Wound, with Rev Chelle

During our chat we talk about;

  • What the mother wound is and how to recognize it
  • the role that inter-generational trauma plays on your mother wound
  • how it shows up in on your pregnancy and birth journey
  • the impact of not healing unfinished pregnancies on the family soul
  • how the mother wound might be the reason for imposter syndrome, your lack of abundance or your tricky relationships
  • how you can go about healing your mother wound

I found this conversation fascinating and thought-provoking. Because this is such a universal topic, I think you might find it hard to listen to and NOT start thinking about your own relationship with your mother and what that means for you in your life. I certainly found it hard as an interviewer not to think about my own situation. But to think that the relationship with our mother has such far-reaching implications is both obvious and surprising. At least it was for me!

Podcast Playlist – Speaking Light Into Abortion

“I was thinking it must be really hard to decide not to have a baby.” “It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done.” I replied. To this date it might be the most emotionally intimate moment I’ve ever had with a child. We were in it together, present, aware, grateful… human. I’m not sure how she came to the conclusion. I didn’t ask. It didn’t seem relevant at the time. What mattered is that there was space for her to share and for me to respond, and that we both felt comfortable in the uncomfortable.“

This week’s guest is Rev Chelle. She is a Metaphysical Minister, Family Constellation Facilitator & Clinical Hypnotist with a unique perspective of abortion and the stories it weaves into our families and our communities.

In every episode I read a blog post I’ve written and we follow up with a conversation about the topic at hand and what it means for women and their ability to thrive after abortion. Happy listening and as always feel free to send me your reflections and questions at the PodBlog page on my website.

The post:

I was laying in bed reading a book when she walked in. My 12 year old daughter climbed right up on top of me and started chatting. She’s reserved, not as open with me as her sister. I treasure these times when she grabs my attention and we get to connect. “Mom, I found this website. It’s really cool, but it’s sad. It shows numbers, like how many people have been born and die, and how many have had abortions.”

She’s speaking my language. Now I’m all in. Fully present.

With extra caution not to make assumptions I ask “Why is that sad?” and she replies, “Like 300,00 people have had abortions this year already.” And I ask again, “Why is that sad? I had an abortion.” This is when her body language shifts. She knew, but she didn’t really know. It’s been laid in front of her in multiple ways, but she was clearly still in the processing stage. This was her way of opening the door again. This was an opportunity to get some new clarity. And so we keep talking, she hopes she’s not one of the 1 in 4 who will have an abortion in her life and I hope that for her too. I remind her that no matter what she will be ok, we can do hard things. It’s hard for me to stay at her level, I want to go all in. I want to tell her all the things, but this is her path. I’m following. She’s in the lead.

Her sister now 15, was also 12 when I had my abortion. It strikes me that this might be the age when they are ready to have these hard conversations. I remember it, almost like it was yesterday. Then, I was in bed still bleeding after my abortion. She laid down with me and I asked her, “Do you want to know why I’ve been in bed?”
